Watching the preview I felt that the movie has a lot of drama in two families, but there
may be more. It seems to me that one of the families owns a company and one person from
another family gets employed but sees that the man who hired her only really seems to be
interested in her sexually thus comes the drama of did she sleep with him because he owns the
company and is a multi- millionaire or is she faithful to her husband? This movie looks pretty
interesting and I will take my wife to see it as I know she enjoys dramas.

Resources for the Independent Filmmaker
www.filmarts.org
Benefits of membership at the San Francisco Film Society range from invitations to previews all the way to eligibility for fiscal sponsorship. They even have opportunities for local bay area filmmakers to film in production offices located at Pier 27 free of charge.

www.itvs.org
The front page greets guests with news articles relating to current independent films. Navigation of the site produces a searchable database of programs that are produced by ITVS. These programs include one sentence summaries of the program; clicking on the program itself will show a longer summary and present opportunities for feedback for those who have seen it.

It also includes various inspirational true stories of people involved in their program. The producers section offers hints and tutorials.

www.pbs.org
Like ITVS, PBS includes a searchable database of programs, allowing easy access for viewers. The front page offers various subjects that the viewer can choose to investigate and learn more about. PBS engage is an interactive section of the website that includes blogs of their producers. There are also links for job opportunities and editorial standards.

www.filmindependent.org
Membership includes benefits such as free screenings in independent films. Volunteer opportunities are available in order to help organize their various events. They offer labs and grants to filmmakers. A resources link offers special discounts on various filmmaking necessities.

www.ifp.org
Has hints and tips on making independent films. Includes interviews with various Indy filmmakers. A networking tab produces job listings specific to the field. There is also opportunity for joining an e-newsletter in order to stay up to date with news in the field.

I felt as if this website could have offered more to potential viewers. While the trailer was very intriguing I was disappointed that the only option included with it was a zip code search for a theater near me. It would have enjoyed character profiles and a more interactive environment for the movie. To be honest the shows and movies that intrigue me most have excellent supporting websites such as following the clues in Kyle XY and researching the history of the Blair Witch Project. While this site may communicate with its target audience it certainly has failed to capture my interest.

The Family that Preys, the tail of two families from different walks of life brought together by greed, lust and betrayal. It had a all-star cast including the writer and director Tyler Perry. Im not a bit fan of Perry’s movies but, whenever I get the chance to watch one, I find myself wanting to see more or to find out what’s going to happen next. Perry’s movies give you that “Oh no you didn’t!” type of feeling drawing you in for more. I think it will be another good film.
While I was on the site, I took The Family that Preys Quiz to see if I more like Abby (Robin Givens) or Andrea (Sanaa Lathan) or a little of both. I am a little of both: I am abbitious but never pushy, whip smart but always approachable. I take my job very seriously but always make time for levity. Moderation is the key to my success. I’m a team player and well liked by my peers, who trust and respect me. Life is too short to be miserable in my job, so I make it work- and if I can’t, I make it work somewhere else.

Week: 8 homework
Organization comparison
www.filmarts.org: a site that as of the 19 of august 08 is no longer providing aid for up and coming film makers though there site’s links are still active and you can use their links to get a hold of other such sites as well. Before the loss of this resource to young up and coming film makers it would aid in acquiring sponsorships in getting picture together and connecting you with the right people to get both your name and finished products into the right hands as well.
www.itvs.org: is a site that promotes and funds ideas for shows that are of a more serious note, this is included of documentaries, newscasts, and other internationally involved stories. It also is a major pool of information for producers to banter back and forth on ideas concepts and other related subjects surrounding the style of film making that this site promotes.
www.pbs.org of coerce is a family friendly organization bend on getting the best in educational programming mainly to children, but they also have older audiences as far as documentaries and news are considered. Their site helps people connect with the right folks to get your documentary put together and help you find a little funding as well while on the way to bringing it together.
www.ifp.org: is a sight with a set forum for directors, writers, producers and other large groups of big style Hollywood jobs. It also as a portion of its web sight dedicated to finding funding and exposure for those who want to get their movies together, such as film labs and conferences and connecting independent film makers with things like local movie showings and contests.
